James Gunn’s DC series Peacemaker, starring John Cena, wraps up its second season this week on HBO and HBO Max.
Peacemaker Season 2 premiered on Aug. 21 with the first of the season’s eight episodes. Season 2 picks up after the events of Peacemaker Season 1, which was released in January of 2022 and consisted of eight episodes.
Peacemaker, of course, is a spinoff series based on Cena’s character, Peacemaker, aka, Christopher Smith, who was introduced in DC Studios’ 2021 big-screen adaptation of its comic book series The Suicide Squad.
The administrative makeup of DC Studios has changed, of course, since Peacemaker Season 1 was released, when in October of 2022 Gunn and his frequent producer, Peter Safran, were named co-CEOs of the Warner Bros. division. The first feature film under Gunn and Safran’s reign — Superman, starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel — was released on July 11 and Peacemaker Season 2 continues to build the foundation of the duo’s new iteration of the DC Universe.
Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 8 — titled Full Nelson — premieres Thursday. The episode will begin streaming on HBO Max at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT and will air on cable and satellite on HBO linear at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
Gunn, who directed Episodes 1 and 6 so far in Peacemaker Season 2, also directs the season finale.

What Happens In ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2, Episode 7?
In Peacemaker Season 2, Peacemaker discovers a portal in his late father Auggie’s (Robert Patrick) house that leads him to an alternate universe known as Earth-2. Upon arriving there, Peacemaker discovers that his villainous father on Earth-1 appears to be a good guy in the alternate universe.
Perhaps more confounding, Peacemaker meets the adult version of his brother, Keith (David Denman) — who died in his youth on Earth-1 — and along with their father, the three have earned praise as a revered superhero trio.
Also, on Earth-2, Peacemaker is developing a romantic relationship with ARGUS Agent Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), which comes as a suprise to him since their Earth-1 relationship is a complete disaster.
In Episode 7, titled Like a Keith in the Night, Harcourt, Vigilante (Freddie Stroma), Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks) and John Economos (Steve Agee) — who used the Quantum Unfolding Chamber (QUC) device to enter Earth-2 to find Peacemaker in Episode 6 — are stuck in the alternate universe along with Judomaster (Nhut Le). Making matters worse, the group and Peacemaker shockingly discover in the episode that on Earth-2, the U.S. is under Nazi rule.
Near the conclusion of Episode 7, Auggie is stabbed to death by Vigilante and Keith is gravely injured by Vigilante, Harcourt and Eagly. Peacemaker and the group then escape Earth-2 via the QUC device, but waiting for them when they return to Earth-1 are ARGUS acting director Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo) and Agent Sasha Bordeaux (Sol Rodriguez), who take Peacemaker into custody.
The season finale of Peacemaker Season 2 will begin streaming on HBO Max at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT and will air on HBO linear at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Thursday.
