TOWSON, MD—Stoneleigh Elementary School has been named a 2025 Maryland Blue Ribbon School, making it one of just seven schools statewide to receive the honor, Baltimore County Public Schools announced.
The designation, announced last week by Maryland State Schools Superintendent Dr. Carey Wright, marks the 27th BCPS school to earn the statewide recognition.
The 2025 cohort represents the revival of the Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools Program, which had last recognized schools in 2019. The state program is stepping in to replace the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program, which the U.S. Department of Education discontinued in August.
According to the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), Stoneleigh Elementary was recognized for achieving both high academic performance on national and state assessments and for making progress in narrowing performance disparities between different student groups.
Stoneleigh Principal Deirdre Lynch said the award provides strong motivation for continued excellence.
“This honor acknowledges our students’ achievements, celebrates the dedication of our teachers, strengthens our learning community, and motivates us to keep raising the bar together,” Lynch said in a statement.
The schools named as 2025 Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools will be formally honored during the November 4 meeting of the Maryland State Board of Education.
