BALTIMORE, MD—The U.S. Army Special Operations Command has announced the deaths of four service members, including the son of MISSION BBQ co-founder Bill Kraus, who were killed during a flight training exercise last week in Washington state.
Chief Warrant Officer Three Andrew Kraus, 39, of Sanibel, Florida, was one of the four “elite warriors” who perished while conducting routine flight training on Wednesday, Sept. 17. The cause of the crash, which involved an MH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, is still under investigation.
The other soldiers identified in the release are:
- Chief Warrant Officer Three Andrew Cully, 35, from Sparta, Missouri
- Sgt. Donavon Scott, 24, from Tacoma, Washington
- Sgt. Jadalyn Good, 23, from Mount Vernon, Washington
“They were elite warriors who embodied the highest values of the Army and the Army Special Operations, and their sacrifice will never be forgotten,” said Lt. Gen. Jonathan Braga, USASOC Commander, in the press release.
The command extended its gratitude to the first responders who assisted in the recovery efforts.
Kraus was the son of MISSION BBQ co-founder Bill Kraus, whose restaurant chain was founded in Maryland and is known for its patriotic theme and support for military personnel and first responders. Many of the restaurant’s locations have been honoring Andrew Kraus with a memorial table.
