The Seattle Mariners look to clinch their first-ever trip to the World Series tonight against the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 6 of the ALCS.
After losing Games 4 and 5 at home, Seattle regrouped and recaptured control with a strong showing in Game 5 to take a 3‑2 lead in the best‑of‑seven series.
Now back in Toronto, the Mariners face a Jays squad that was exceptional at home this season, posting a .667 win rate at Rogers Centre and looking to force a Game 7.
But Seattle has already won the first two games of this series in Toronto. It looks like there’s a home-field disadvantage in the 2025 ALCS.
Logan Gilbert takes the mound for Seattle. He was excellent in his first two postseason outings against the Detroit Tigers, giving up just one run across eight innings. But in Game 2 of this series, pitching on short rest after a relief appearance, he lasted only three innings, allowing two earned runs. Fully rested tonight, Gilbert will be better positioned to attack Toronto’s lineup with his full arsenal.
Trey Yesavage, the rookie right-hander, gets the ball for Toronto in the biggest start of his young career. His postseason debut was dazzling — 5.1 no-hit innings against the New York Yankees in the Wild Card round. But he faltered in Game 2 against Seattle, surrendering five runs and three walks over four innings. The 22-year-old now faces elimination pressure in front of the home crowd.
Prediction
Toronto has been excellent at home this season and has the bats to force a Game 7. But Seattle has shown it can win in Toronto and has the deeper, more rested bullpen. If Gilbert can give them five or six solid innings, the Mariners’ relief corps is well-equipped to hold the line.
Prediction: Mariners 5, Blue Jays 3
