One hurt, several cars struck by gunfire on Interstate 270 on Columbus’ North Side


A shooting along Interstate 270 in Columbus left one person injured and several vehicles damaged.

A Columbus police dispatcher said a caller shortly after 1 p.m. reported shots fired on highway near the Interstate 71 interchange on the city’s north side.

The dispatcher said bullets struck several cars and a building. Paramedics took one person to Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital in stable condition after they were hit by glass or shrapnel, the dispatcher said.

Columbus police respond Oct. 8, 2025 to a report of a shooting on Interstate 270 near the Interstate 71 interchange.

According to the Ohio Department of Transportation, eastbound lanes of the road have been shut down from the 71 interchange to State Route 315.

The dispatcher did not have any information about suspects and said police were on scene gathering more info.
