NOTTINGHAM, MD—A Nottingham man, who admitted he isn’t even a football fan, is now a big winner after a $10 Ravens X10 scratch-off ticket turned into a $50,000 prize.
The warehouse worker said he was drawn to the ticket by its artwork while shopping in Perry Hall. He bought the winning Ravens X10 ticket at a Perry Hall BP station located at 8809 Belair Road.
Scratching the ticket to reveal the win, the Baltimore County resident discovered he had matched one of his numbers to a $50,000 prize.
His son, who accompanied him to the Maryland Lottery headquarters to claim the winnings on Sept. 11, said his father was so low-key about the win that he “didn’t want to bring attention to himself in the store.”
“He wanted to keep it to himself,” the son said. “He checked it and got out of the store without showing any excitement.”
The man told lottery officials he plans to use the prize money for a home improvement project.
