Josh Hartnett Taken To Hospital Following Car Crash In Newfoundland, Canada While Filming Netflix Series


UPDATED with Hartnett’s publicist statement: Josh Hartnett was involved in a collision with a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary patrol car in St. Johns, last week, the CBC reports.

Hartnett was in St. Johns shooting Netflix’s untitled Newfoundland series and reportedly was on his way home from the set when the vehicles collided last Thursday. Hartnett was a passenger in the vehicle and both he and the driver were taken to the hospital as a precaution, but according to police cited by CBC, neither was seriously hurt. The officer in the police vehicle also was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Hartnett’s rep Susan Patricola says the actor was checked out at the hospital and released, went home and returned to work. Production on the show was not affected.

Details of the crash are not known.

Hartnett stars in and is executive producing the six-episode untitled Newfoundland limited series, which takes place and is filming in Newfoundland, Canada.

In the series, when a mysterious sea creature terrorizes a remote Newfoundland town, a hard-bitten fisherman (Hartnett) must fight to protect his family, his community, and his vanishing way of life.

Hartnett previously starred in the “Beyond the Sea”episode of Black Mirror and co-starred in the Oscar-winning film Oppenheimer. He headlined Trap and Fight or Flight and next stars in Verity opposite Anne Hathaway.
