BELCAMP, MD—A Harford County mom’s quick thinking helped her daughter win a $50,000 Powerball prize after the mother bought a ticket on her daughter’s behalf. The winning ticket, purchased at the All in One store in Belcamp, matched five of the six numbers drawn on September 10.
The mother and daughter, who have chosen to remain anonymous, are avid Maryland Lottery players, particularly when jackpots are high. The daughter, busy with work, asked her mom to pick up a ticket for her.
The $50,000 win came as a surprise when the daughter, a few days after the drawing, asked her mom to check the numbers.
“We were so excited!” the daughter said, adding that this is her first significant win. While she hasn’t yet decided what to do with the prize money, she plans to keep playing.
The mother, a seasoned Lottery player herself, said she has won smaller prizes in the $50 to $100 range. She described their hobby as “just fun money.”
The family celebrated the win with a dinner in Delaware.
The winning ticket was sold at the All in One Convenience Store, located at 1327 Policy Drive.
