Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein were planning fertility treatment together, emails show.
Maxwell, the jailed daughter of British media tycoon Robert Maxwell, has long tried to distance herself from Epstein and maintained that she was unaware about details of his initial sexual abuse case in the mid-2000s.
However, more than 18,000 emails obtained from one of Epstein’s personal accounts by Bloomberg News have shed light on Maxwell’s relationship with the convicted sex offender and disgraced financier.
Not only did they communicate, but she helped strategise over legal issues and the pair even discussed undergoing shared fertility treatment after his sex offending became public.
Among at least 650 emails exchanged by the pair is one in which she gave detailed instructions regarding sperm donation for joint fertility treatment.
She said: “You can do the sample at home”, adding that it “has to be within 90 mins of my procedure” and that “all the ejaculate must be collected”.

The email was sent days after detectives raided his $16 million mansion in Palm Beach, Florida, in October 2005.
Police showed up with a search warrant following claims that young girls were paid up to $1,000 to give Epstein massages, and that some were asked to remove their clothes and engage in sex acts.
Epstein died by suicide in prison in 2019, while Maxwell is serving a 20-year prison sentence after she was convicted by a jury in 2021, which concluded that she recruited and groomed women for Epstein to sexually abuse.
Maxwell, who has appealed her conviction to the US Supreme Court, told Todd Blanch, Deputy Attorney General, that her role in Epstein’s life was “very, very diminished” by the time he went to prison in July 2008.
However, the email analysis shows that they exchanged at least 203 messages in the first six months of 2008.
Further emails reveal how Maxwell helped Epstein negotiate his plea deal.
On May 23, 2008, Epstein wrote to Maxwell: “Question, which one do you prefer,,, lewd and lscivious conduct ,, or procuring minors for prostitution”.
In this period, Epstein and his lawyers were negotiating a generous plea deal with state officials in Florida and he was attempting to decide upon what charges he would plead guilty to.
The same day, Maxwell replied: “I suppose Lewd and lecivious conduct . . I would prefer lewd and lescivious conduct w/a prostitute if possible.”
At her trial, prosecutors claimed she recruited teenage girls into Epstein’s world – US Department of Justice
One month later, he registered as a sex offender and pleaded guilty to felony solicitation of prostitution and procurement of minors to engage in prostitution.
Lawyers for Epstein’s victims have repeatedly claimed that he used his vast wealth to manipulate them, and that Maxwell groomed and procured young girls for Epstein.
During her trial, prosecutors claimed that she recruited teenage girls into Epstein’s world by offering them shopping trips and encouraging them to bring their friends along when giving him massages.

The email cache also includes a spreadsheet detailing nearly 2,000 presents, payments and luxury items amounting to £1.8 million, and indicate that Maxwell assisted Epstein in arranging many of them.
Many of those identified in the spreadsheet later testified that they were victims. Some of these entries include copies of the book, Massage for Dummies.
In July 2006, Epstein was indicted for soliciting prostitution and was arrested in Palm Beach.
The inquiry had gathered such momentum by late that year that it became a federal sex crimes investigation.
