MONTROSE, Colo. (KREX) — On Monday, Lisa Thyre, a former teacher at Colorado West Christian School in Montrose, pleaded guilty to attempt to commit unlawful electronic sexual communication by someone in a position of power.

Thyre, 44, was arrested in January following an investigation into alleged inappropriate communications between her and a student at Colorado West Christian School. She was initially charged with unlawful electronic sexual communications, unlawful sexual communications, conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence and tampering with evidence.

The plea agreement states she may have no contact with anyone under the age of 18, including through employment or volunteering. She also may not contact the victim, even after they turn 18. She must also register on the sex offender registry.

The judge stated she will hold off on dropping the other charges until the presentence investigative report and offense-specific evaluation have been conducted.

Her sentencing hearing is set for Nov. 19 at 3:30 p.m.
