FALLSTON, MD—Motorists in Harford County can expect lane closures and delays on MD 165 (Baldwin Mill Road) and MD 7 (Philadelphia Road) as the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration begins two separate improvement projects over the next two weeks.

The first project, a $921,000 pavement improvement on a 3.4-mile section of MD 165 from MD 152 (Fallston Road) to MD 23 (East-West Highway), is scheduled to begin on Thursday, Sept. 11. Crews will work from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, with work continuing until spring 2026. Drivers should be prepared for single-lane closures with flagging operations. The project is part of a larger $2.4 million contract to improve pavement friction and safety on state highways in Baltimore and Harford counties. Slurry Pavers, Inc. of Richmond, VA, is the contractor.

Beginning as soon as Monday, Sept. 15, crews will also start a $273,000 project to clean and paint the MD 7 bridge over the “Big” Gunpowder Falls. The work, which is expected to be completed by mid-fall 2025, will require single-lane closures with flagging operations. Crews will work during the day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. Reglas Painting of Dundalk is the contractor for this project, which is part of a $2.8 million contract for bridge maintenance in the region.

The State Highway Administration advises motorists to use caution in the work zones and follow all temporary traffic signs and cones. For real-time traffic conditions, drivers can visit https://chart.maryland.gov.
