Costco (NASDAQ: COST) reported net sales of $26.58 billion for the five weeks ended October 5, 2025, an increase of 8% from $24.62 billion last year.

Same-store sales rose 5.1% in the United States, 6.3% in Canada, and 8.5% across other international markets, for a total company gain of 5.7%.

When excluding the effects of gasoline price changes and foreign exchange, comparable sales grew 5% in the U.S., 9.3% in Canada, and 7.5% internationally — a 6% increase companywide.

Costco Changes How It Reports Digital Sales

Costco has changed how it reports online growth. Starting with this month’s release, the company replaced its “e-commerce comparable sales” metric with a new measure called “digitally-enabled comparable sales.”

The updated metric captures all transactions initiated through a digital device — whether fulfilled through a warehouse, a distribution center, or Costco Travel. It’s a broader definition that reflects how members increasingly mix online orders with in-store pickup and other digital touchpoints.

Digitally-enabled comparable sales rose 26.1% year over year in September, or 26.3% excluding gasoline price and currency effects.

Costco Stock (NASDAQ: COST) Rises In After-Hours Trading

Costco shares closed at $914.80 on Wednesday and climbed over 2.5% in after-hours trading following the sales release.

Costco shares are flat on the year, rising 0.55%, but they’ve fallen several times from midyear highs above $1,000, including a drop after the company’s fiscal Q4 2025 earnings report in late September, as investors respond to slowing growth and margin pressures.
