Ron Kitchens, president of the Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce, is resigning to take a similar post in Saint Louis, Missouri.
The COC did not immediately name a successor.
Kitchens, 62, was hired to run the Chamber of Commerce in 2022 when Henry Florsheim left the job.
He said at the time one factor in taking the job here was a promise he made to his wife, Lynn, to move back to Texas.
“My wife likes sweet tea and grits. Our goal was to spend the rest of our career and our lives in Texas,” he said at the time.
Kitchens has recently been involved in several large community projects, announcing this month that property for a large data processing center had been purchased in the Wichita Falls Business Park.

He also spearheaded a move for the city to purchase Sikes Senter from a New York company and find a developer who would demolish it and convert the land into mixed retail and space for a Midwestern State University athletic stadium.
Kitchens was also involved in the purchase of the former Kirby Middle School from Wichita Falls ISD to convert into headquarters for the city’s police department.
The chamber also took over development efforts in downtown Wichita Falls when the staff of Downtown Wichita Falls Development was terminated.
Kitchen came to Wichita Falls from Birmingham, Alabama, where he was head of the Birmingham Business Alliance. Before that he was senior partner and CEO of Southwest Michigan First, a privately financed economic development consulting businesses in seven counties. He was president of the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation early in his career.
