COLORADO (KRQE) – Another hunter has died in the south San Juan wilderness due to hazardous conditions. Last Friday, Conejos County sheriff deputies received a call for help from hunters in a remote area.
Deputies say one person was reported to already be giving CPR to the hunter. Conejos search and rescue teams arrived and determined that the victim passed away, but because of hazardous nighttime conditions, search and rescue says it was not safe to conduct a recovery mission.

At dawn on Saturday, search teams successfully recovered the body of a 54-year-old man from Tennessee. The cause of death is unknown.
The Conejos County sheriff says that when people enter the wilderness, they must remain cautious and well-prepared for the challenges of the backcountry.
