ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) — Buffalo Bills fan Candice Dodge is thanking Bills Mafia for saving her father’s life after he collapsed at Thursday night’s game.
Dodge said that shortly after kickoff, her 68-year-old father sat down in his seat and told her he “needed a minute.”
“I was absolutely watching all signs of life fade from my father’s face, and I truly thought he was absolutely gone,” Candice said.
Before Candice could process what was happening, fans in Section 121 started yelling for help. A nurse named Danielle rushed over and performed CPR, which Candice believes saved her father’s life.
“To be part of Bills Mafia is one thing; to be there in person is one thing. What I truly felt was being absolutely embraced. There was no way I was going to get out of there without someone walking me out, taking care of me, making sure I was OK, and they doubled down on my dad,” Candice said.
Her father is still recovering in the hospital, but he is getting better each day and is waiting to receive a pacemaker.
“He’s a hardworking man,” Candice said. “He’s a man that would pretty much give anything anybody needs to make their day better and it all feels like it was all poured into him tenfold in that moment.”
Candice is grateful for the support of Bills Mafia and has reconnected with Danielle, with plans to attend a Bills game in the future.
