Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 finale.
The Summer I Turned Pretty aired its final episode on Wednesday, Sept. 17, concluding three seasons of Belly’s complicated love triangle with the Fisher boys. In the finale, Belly finally chooses which brother she wants to be with, while the ending subtly suggests a potential future for the beloved romance franchise.
In the Season 3 finale’s opening scene, Conrad arrives in Paris and waits outside Belly’s apartment for her to come home. Moments later, Belly rides in on a scooter with Benito. After watching them kiss on the cheek goodbye, Conrad walks up to her. Belly is shocked to see him. When she asks why he’s there, Conrad apologizes and explains that it was a last-minute decision — he had a conference in Brussels and wanted to visit her for her birthday. However, he quickly backs away from the idea and says he can leave if she’s busy.
Belly mentions she has plans at eight, but can spend time with him until then. “It will be fun to play tourist again,” she says. After bringing Conrad’s bag up to her apartment, she takes a moment to process his surprise arrival. In her narration, Belly assures herself that she only needs to be a tour guide for a few hours before sending him on his way.
Belly takes Conrad on a tour of Paris landmarks. As he watches her, memories of their time together over the years flash through his mind. Conrad confesses that he’s often imagined his life in Paris. “I wish that I could see Paris the way that you do,” he says. Belly knows exactly where to take him next — a rooftop with breathtaking views of the city. “You seem very comfortable here, in Paris,” he observes. Belly admits it took her a full year to reach this point. But Conrad always knew she could do it.
Belly invites Conrad to join her for a pre-birthday dinner her friends are hosting that evening, suggesting he could catch a later train to Brussels. Before they get ready, Conrad wanders through her apartment and notices photos of Benito on the wall. When Belly emerges from the bathroom in her birthday outfit, Conrad gazes at her. “You look really beautiful.”
What Happens At Belly’s Birthday Dinner?
Belly introduces Conrad to all of her Parisian friends, including Benito. “We’ve heard everything about you,” Benito says. “You’re like a legend in Paris.” Benito pulls Belly aside to give her a birthday gift — a picture of her in bed. At dinner, the girls ask about Conrad’s declaration of love on the beach. Benito then questions Conrad about why he’s really in Paris. When Belly responds that he’s here for work, Benito is skeptical. Conrad finally admits that he changed his flight because he really wanted to see her.
The girls tell Conrad not to take Benito seriously because he’s still upset that Belly broke up with him. “It’s only been six weeks,” Benito points out. Belly tells Benito that he’ll always be the boy who taught her how to ride a scooter, while Conrad fires back that he’ll always be the one who taught Belly how to ride a bike. “I came here because every year we would spend Isabel’s birthday in Cousins,” Conrad explains. “She’s here now, so I thought I would bring a little piece of Cousins to her.”
After she opens up gifts, Conrad asks about Benito. “So, Benito. Not your boyfriend?” he says. “I never said he was,” Belly replies, while taking a hit. When Conrad mentions how Belly once said that marijuana messes with white matter, she asks if he’s memorized every little thing she’s ever said. “Yes,” he says with a smile.
Conrad actually has a gift for Belly. He gives her a glass vial filled with sand that he collected during a Fourth of July a few summers ago. He explains that whenever he feels homesick, taking out the sand makes him feel connected to everyone. He wanted Belly to have it for when she misses home, too. She kisses Conrad on the cheek.
What’s Going On With Jeremiah, Steven, Taylor And Denise?

Jeremiah is still crashing at Denise’s apartment. Conrad and Jeremiah remain on good terms, so much so that Jere’s on board with the Belly/Conrad reunion in Paris. Denise reveals to Jere that she’s moving to San Francisco after she and Steven secured seed funding for their company. Denise tells Jere to keep quiet, though, because Taylor doesn’t know yet about Steven having to move across the country. But Taylor is there, and she heard the entire conversation.
Jeremiah and Taylor are working together to host an event for Taylor’s work, and Jere is in charge of cooking all the food. They’re forced to relocate the pop-up dinner to Cousins, but the event continues to encounter roadblocks. Jere considers canceling the entire dinner and questions having it in Cousins because of what happened last year. But Denise encourages him not to give up. “Don’t let the past take that away from you,” she tells him. Laurel, Adam and John also reunite for the pop-up dinner.
Meanwhile, Steven confronts Taylor in the kitchen about his upcoming move. “You’re going to move 3,000 miles without me,” Taylor yells, upset that he didn’t even ask her to come with him. They move their conversation to the dock. “I’m not scared of us anymore,” Taylor says, “but I’m scared of you not knowing that.” Steven explains that it’s not about that. “I don’t want you to have to give up anything for me,” he says. Taylor insists she wants to do this with him. They agree to move to California together.
Do Denise and Jeremiah Get Together?
In the kitchen, Denise hops on the counter and tries one of Jere’s desserts for the pop-up dinner. While they are talking about Conrad and how Jere thinks their father still doesn’t appreciate him being a chef, Denise makes him feel better. She calls Jere a “10” and tells him not to pretend that he’s not gorgeous. With sparks flying between the two, he admits he’s going to miss her while she’s in San Francisco. He then kisses her, which goes much better than Denise and Steven’s smooch earlier in the season.

After dinner, Belly and Conrad walk the streets of Paris together. Belly called it the perfect birthday. Conrad admits that before he came here, he thought she might be hiding out or punishing herself for everything that happened. But now, he knows that she’s made a fantastic life for herself here, and he’s happy he got to see it.
Belly says he’s not wrong. At first, she was hiding out and feeling lonely. Belly also defends being the villain in the entire situation, but Conrad doesn’t want her to think that way. Conrad then lets her know that Jere knows he’s in Paris, and Jere wished him “Good luck.”
“I like being under the same moon as you again,” Conrad says. He’s about to say something else, but Belly interrupts and wants to take him to one more place. While on the waterfront, Conrad asks Belly to dance with him.
“Do you remember the last time we danced?” Belly asks, and Conrad answers that it was prom, which didn’t go so well. “That all feels like a million years ago,” she says, adding that for a while, his letters kept her going. Whenever she was lonely or missed home, she would read them, over and over again.
He asks why it took her so long to write him back, but she had to move on. “I had to let go of the past, and I couldn’t do that if I was still holding on to you.”
Conrad asks if she’s moved on, and Belly doesn’t answer. Instead, they kiss. “Come home with me,” she says, then they make out literally everywhere, from the taxi home to the staircase up to her apartment, as Taylor Swift’s “Dress” plays in the background.
What Goes Wrong After Belly And Conrad Hook Up?
After they make love, the two cuddle together in bed. “I used to wish for you every birthday,” she says. “Now you’re stuck with me forever,” he replies. Belly notices that it is 4 a.m., which means he likely missed the last train for Brussels.
Conrad tells her he’s been thinking about skipping the first day of his conference and leaving the following night instead. But Belly doesn’t want him changing his plans for her, just as she wouldn’t change her plans for him. “I have a life here,” she reminds him.
The next train is at 5 a.m., but Conrad wants to get breakfast. Belly doesn’t think it’s a good idea for him to stay. “Is everything okay?” he asks. “Did I do something?”
That’s when Belly asks Conrad what he thinks is happening here. “You show up at my door, unannounced, on my birthday. What even was your plan?” Conrad answers that he didn’t have one, but he wanted to see her and tell her that he loves her. He also wanted to know if any part of her still loved him.
“You don’t love me anymore?” Conrad asks. But Belly says she’s always loved him, and that’s the problem. She also thinks that maybe the only reason they were together was because of Susannah. “You think I love you because when I was six years old, my mother thought that we should get married?” Conrad is confused. Belly suggests that maybe if Susannah had never gotten sick, they wouldn’t have gotten together. Instead, maybe he would have gone to football camp and never looked twice at her again.
But he doubles down. “That is not why I love you,” he admits. “I have tried everything not to love you for the sake of Jere, for the sake of not dragging you down with me in my grief. I have fought it way before that summer that my mom got sick. You’ve always been a precious person to me. I’ve always cared about you. At some point, I started to see you differently, and that scared me, because I didn’t want things between us to change.”
Conrad says that if he met Belly for the first time tonight, he would still love her. “How do you know that?” she questions. He answers that it’s because he’s changed everything about himself, and the one thing he hasn’t changed is his love for her.
But Belly can’t commit to him right now. “Conrad, I wish that I could be as sure as you, but I can’t. I’m sorry,” she painstakingly responds. “I’m not,” Conrad says, before saying he’s going to try to catch the 5 a.m. train. “Happy Birthday, Belly,” he says.
Who Does Belly Choose?

Conrad leaves Belly’s apartment and heads to the train in Brussels. In her narration, Belly admits that all this time, she has wanted to believe she’s changed and is no longer the same girl she was. “But I am still her, and was that girl so bad? She followed her heart no matter what, and despite all her mistakes, I have to believe she’s still worthy of love. I still love her.”
Belly grabs Junior Mint. “I still love him,” she says to herself. “I have brown hair and brown eyes, and I will always love Conrad Fisher.” She screams outside on the balcony for him, but he’s not there. She gets dressed and calls a taxi to the train station.
She finds his train number and runs toward the platform. She hops on the train and finally finds his seat. “Is this seat taken?” she asks, before finally confessing her love to him.
“Conrad, I choose you of my own free will. If there are infinite worlds, every version of me chooses you in every one of them,” she says before grabbing onto her infinity necklace. Conrad gets up and touches the necklace before kissing her.
“I love you, Belly,” he says.
“I love you too,” she says back to him.

In Cousins, the Fishers and Conklins are all together enjoying their company after the pop-up. Jere and Denise are holding hands under the table, and Steven plants a kiss on Taylor’s cheek, now that they’re planning to move to California together.
In a narration, Belly reveals that she didn’t go back home that summer. “But eventually I did,” she says, and the next scene shows Conrad driving Belly home.
“Nothing beats coming home after you’ve been gone a long, long time.” The car pulls into the driveway of the Cousins’ beach home. Conrad and Belly walk hand in hand and walk through the door.
“And just as it always had, the beach house held a million promises of summer. And what just might be.”
In the final credits, a compilation of photos of Belly and Conrad enjoying Christmas in Paris is shown.

After the credits roll for Episode 11, viewers see a heartfelt message from Jenny Han, the show’s creator, displayed on screen.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the love you’ve shown The Summer I Turned Pretty all these years,” the note said. “Whether you’ve been with Belly since the very first book or joined us with the show, I’m so grateful you’ve made Belly’s story part of your summers.”
Han added, “We put our whole hearts into this show, and we’re so thankful to you for coming along with us on the ride. Maybe we’ll meet again one summer in Cousins. Until then – All of my love always, Jenny.”
Han’s words, “maybe we’ll meet again one summer in Cousins,” could hint at a possible future spinoff for TSITP franchise. Some fans are eager to see a prequel featuring younger versions of Laurel and Susannah. Or we could see Belly and Conrad in their later years, or join Steven, Taylor, and Denise as they build their lives in California—perhaps with Jeremiah joining them, given his new relationship with Denise.
