A 16-year-old boy has faced a court accused of the murder of a boy of the same age in East Sussex.
Joshua Ingram, who lived in Newhaven, East Sussex, died after being stabbed in the back and side outside Seaford station at about 17:00 BST on Wednesday.
Appearing at Lewes Crown Court via video link, the teenage defendant, who cannot be identified because of his age, spoke only to confirm his name. He was told his trial would begin on 19 January 2026 and is scheduled to last between five and seven days.
Tom Phillips for the prosecution said the defendant was charged with murder and also charged with being in possession of a bladed article. No pleas were entered.
Fiona Clegg, the barrister representing the defendant, told the court: “Reporting restrictions have been extended today but it has come to my attention there have been individuals on a Facebook post that have not abided by that.”
Her Honour Judge Christine Laing KC said: “There should be no naming of this defendant in any forum whatsoever.
“But sadly I am trying to police with a small ‘p’ – and the internet is such a vast place which the court has little control of – but there is to be no naming in any way shape or form.”
Turning to the defendant, she said: “For the time being you remain in custody.
“I am satisfied, given the very serious nature of this offence, and for the protection of the public and indeed yourself, you should remain in custody.”
