JOPPA, MD—The Maryland State Highway Administration will begin a pavement improvement project on MD 7 in eastern Harford County as soon as Sunday, Sept. 14. The project is expected to cause overnight lane closures and flagging operations.

The work will take place on MD 7 (Philadelphia Road) between the Baltimore County line at the Little Gunpowder Falls and MD 152 (Mountain Road). It is part of a $170,000 pavement maintenance project, which is itself a portion of a larger $7.9 million contract to improve pavement conditions and safety on state highways in Harford County.

Motorists should expect single-lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday nights through Thursday mornings. Flagging operations will be in place to guide drivers through the work zone. The project is scheduled to be completed by late September, weather permitting.

The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Allan Myers MD, Inc. of Fallston, will be performing the work, using temporary traffic signs and cones to direct traffic.
