A Framingham teacher has been placed on leave after a video that surfaced on several social media platforms appears to show her celebrating the fatal shooting of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
Framingham Superintendent of Schools Robert Tremblay did not identify the teacher, but several social media accounts posted a video from the Instagram account, _Mimosamm, which has since been deleted. Tremblay did not say whether the teacher was on paid or unpaid leave.
The account biography describes her as a “Mimosa lover, special education teacher.”
Tremblay said Thursday, Sept. 11, that the district found out about the social media post on Wednesday night and took “immediate action.” He said the teacher is on leave pending an internal review.

In a statement, Tremblay said: “As a District, we are committed to fostering a safe and respectful environment for everyone. We do not condone violence or hateful behavior in any form. While the law prevents us from discussing specific personnel matters, the employee is on leave pending an internal review. Be assured that we’re addressing the situation in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and policies.”
The video shows a woman, allegedly the teacher, singing “God Bless America,” while smiling and zooming in on a television headline that reports Kirk’s death.
The video has been shared numerous times on X and Facebook, with people calling for the teacher to be fired.
Framingham is not the only district to suspend a teacher due to social media posts. The Wachusett Regional School District (Holden, Paxton, Princeton, Rutland and Sterling) has also suspended a teacher due to social media posts about Kirk’s death.
