Two Primanti Bros. locations in south-central Pennsylvania closed this week, according to the company.
Hanover’s location, at 100 Eisenhower Drive, and Chambersburg’s location, at 983 Norland Avenue, are both listed as “permanently closed” online.
“After careful consideration, Primanti Bros made the decision to close our Chambersburg and Hanover restaurants,” a spokesperson for Primanti Bros. told the Evening Sun on Thursday afternoon.
A vacant storefront that formerly hosted a Primanti Bros. restaurant is seen at 100 Eisenhower Drive, Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, in Hanover Borough.
“We’re proud to have served these communities and we remain committed to our fans in central Pennsylvania – providing great food and a great time in the way that we’ve been doing since 1933.”
The closure came with little warning, with a sign, reading “Thank you Hanover,” sharing the closure appearing on the door of the Hanover location at 100 Eisenhower Drive on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025.
By Thursday afternoon, Sept. 11, 2025, the signage for the business had already come off of the building in Hanover.
Hanover’s location of the Pittsburgh-founded restaurant first opened just three years ago, in September of 2022, while the Chambersburg location opened in 2023.

An apparent letter to employees advising them of the closure, addressed from Paul Salupo, chief restaurant officer of Primanti Bros., circulated on Hanover social media postings in the wake of the closure.
The letter advised employees of severance options, and wrote that the closure was made as a business decision for the brand. The date provided on the letter was given as Sept. 11, 2025, though it circulated the day prior.
Several Primanti Bros. restaurants remain in the central Pennsylvania area, including locations in York, Lancaster, and Camp Hill.
