People Have Little Sympathy For This Trump Supporter Who Said They’d “Gladly” Pay More For Groceries…Until They Got The Bill

Hi, I’m Alexa, and I usually use this space to track Donald Trump’s “hot” economy, but we also need to examine how the numbers are affecting everyday people — especially his loyal following. So, welcome to Donnie Hate Watch.

BuzzFeed

As you likely know, during his campaign, Trump made the most confident of promises — that he’d lower the cost of groceries on “day one” of his presidency. Obviously, this has not come to pass.

In fact, reports show that grocery inflation has reached its highest level since 2022, and retailers like Walmart have raised their prices amid Trump’s tariffs.

So, if anything, you’re probably seeing your average grocery bill spike.

This should honestly piss any and everyone off, but one (previously) loyal Trump supporter has recently gone viral for their flip-switching moment.

You see, it started back in June, when the president complained about farmers being frustrated by his aggressive attacks on immigration.

“Our great farmers and people in the Hotel and Leisure business have been stating that our very aggressive policy on immigration is taking very good, long time workers away from them, with those jobs being almost impossible to replace,” Trump said on Truth Social at the time. “That is not good…Changes are coming!”

Then, this self-identified “constitutionalist” who goes by Cynthia on X, responded to Trump’s words, writing, “I’d gladly pay higher food prices to make our country safer and to give those jobs back to Americans.”

Well, it didn’t take long for Cynthia to U-turn. Three months later, she tweeted the following:

So I guess when it comes down to reality, she actually wouldn’t “gladly pay higher food prices,” and netizens won’t let her forget it. Screenshots of her two tweets went viral on Reddit, where commenters shared little sympathy.

“Hypocrisy is a requirement for the maga cult, have the grocery list you voted for cupcake!” one anonymous user wrote.

People can’t help but point out a particular part of her message that seems to be for other conservatives:

“I love how she’s so certain that conservatives will pretend prices are low that she need to actually say ‘let’s not bullshit ourselves.’ Never let them gaslight you into thinking they don’t know they’re full of shit,” a redditor responded.
