TOWSON, MD—Towson University President Mark Ginsberg has been honored with the June E. Streckfus Leadership in Education Partnerships Award by the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education (MBRT), recognizing his dedication to forging stronger ties between the state’s business and education sectors.

The annual award celebrates an individual who demonstrates excellence in fostering partnerships between business and education leaders, a central tenet of the MBRT’s mission to ensure a competitive future workforce for Maryland.

Since beginning his tenure as TU’s president in late 2023, Dr. Ginsberg has been a proactive champion for the organization. His support for the MBRT has included:

  • Facilitating more than 100 student campus tours for MBRT participants.
  • Contributing significantly to the roundtable’s 2024 annual meeting.
  • Spearheading the successful effort to relocate MBRT’s headquarters to Towson.

Furthermore, President Ginsberg supported the appointment of Vernon Hurte, TU’s senior vice president for student affairs and university life, to the MBRT’s Board of Directors.

A Focus on ‘Strengthening Maryland’

The MBRT noted that Dr. Ginsberg’s efforts align directly with Towson University’s institutional priorities, which are guided by three core principles: assuring TU is a caring community, promoting the success of every Tiger, and strengthening Maryland.

The MBRT acts as a catalyst for business, government, and educational organizations to drive high student achievement. Through its programs, students benefited in 2024 from financial literacy and FAFSA courses, career and skill development training, advising, and mentorship, all designed to build a strong workforce pipeline for the state.

The award highlights President Ginsberg’s quick and impactful work to leverage the university’s resources to directly support the state’s economic and workforce development goals.
