MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police say four females were assaulted and robbed on Beale Street early Sunday morning by a group of men who took their Dodge Charger.

Police say they initially responded at 4 a.m. to a report of 20-30 people fighting in a park. When they got there, the crowd dispersed and no victims were found.

However, they soon were called to the parking garage at 149 Peabody Place. There, four females told them they were approached by a group of males who tried to talk to them.

The victims “turned down the males’ advances, which made the suspects upset,” police wrote in a report. The men then allegedly began assaulting the women and taking cash from them.

One of the men reached into a victim’s right front pocket and took the keys to a Dodge Charger, which belonged to another woman in the group, police said.

When the victims returned to the parking lot at Main Street, their ride was gone.

Police said a camera at the Downtown Crime Center captured three males getting into the Charger and driving away.
